Local Natives
Los Angeles band built on three-part harmony and interlocking guitars, with the percussive push of 'Sun Hands' still closing their sets.
Local Natives formed in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, and made their name with a sound built on vocals traded and stacked between several singers over guitars that lock into repeating figures. Their debut, Gorilla Manor, came out in 2009 and carried the songs that still anchor the live set, including "Sun Hands" and "Airplanes." Later records softened the edges and brought in more keyboards and studio texture, though the harmony writing stayed the constant.
