Malaa is a French producer who performs under a balaclava and has never confirmed his identity, a conceit that has run alongside the music since his first releases. He emerged through the Confession label and the wider French house scene associated with Tchami and DJ Snake, and his tracks generally combine bass house drops with hip-hop samples and sparse, menacing arrangements. The Alter Ego billing points the same approach toward harder, more club-oriented material.
