The most sampled guitar in history — 'Good Times' to 'Get Lucky', a nonstop masterclass in why disco never died.

Chic were formed in New York in the 1970s by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards, and became one of the defining groups of the disco era with "Le Freak", "Everybody Dance" and "Good Times", the last of which supplied the bassline that underpinned the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" and a long line of records after it. The band's sound rests on Rodgers's clipped rhythm guitar, Edwards's melodic bass and tight string and vocal arrangements.

Rodgers went on to a substantial career as a producer, working on David Bowie's "Let's Dance", Madonna's "Like a Virgin", Diana Ross's "Diana" and, decades later, Daft Punk's "Get Lucky". Edwards died in 1996; Rodgers has continued to lead Chic as a live act, with sets that move through both the group's catalogue and the records he produced for others.
