Turnpike Troubadours
Red dirt's most devoted following — fiddle-driven story songs a whole field knows word for word.
Turnpike Troubadours formed in Oklahoma in 2005 and are among the best-known bands in the red dirt scene that runs between Oklahoma and Texas. Their sound combines country, folk and rock with prominent fiddle, and their songs frequently follow recurring characters and settings across albums. The band went on hiatus in 2019 and later resumed performing and recording, retaining a large and unusually committed regional audience.
