Furnace Fest takes place inside a dead ironworks: Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, a preserved 19th-century blast-furnace site of rusted pipework and brick sheds, which is either the best or the worst possible place to put 62 hardcore and metalcore bands for two October days. The 2026 edition leans on the full-album set — Underoath performing Define the Great Line in its entirety, and Bring Me The Horizon closing Sunday with their debut Count Your Blessings front to back for its twentieth birthday — then surrounds them with the reunions this festival has built its reputation on: Chiodos, Poison the Well, Eighteen Visions, Cartel, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza. A Day To Remember tops Saturday. Everything else is 2000s scene history and the current hardcore wave sharing the same slag heap.
Expect post-hardcore, metalcore, hardcore and deathcore across 62 acts.

The pop-punk/metalcore hybrid blueprint — mosh-call breakdowns and sugar-rush hooks in equal measure, delivered with beach balls, confetti cannons, and total arena confidence.
From Ocala, FL · Sounds like The Wonder Years, Neck Deep, Blink-182, Underoath
Blackened deathcore with a genuine sense of atmosphere under all the tremolo and blastbeats — grim, symphonic weight that outlasts the genre's shock tactics.
From San Diego, CA · Sounds like Whitechapel, Suicide Silence, Thy Art Is Murder
A drummer-vocalist fronting frantic, jazz-inflected post-hardcore that changes direction every eight bars — Chico's contribution to the Swancore canon.
From Chico, CA · Sounds like Dance Gavin Dance, Sianvar, Chon, The Fall of Troy
Thirty years of blunt-force positivity — Jamey Jasta shouting self-reliance over riffs engineered to move a room sideways, hardcore's most dependable motivational speaker.
From Bridgeport, CT · Sounds like Terror, Madball, Sick of It All, Biohazard
Horror-movie theatrics welded to industrial-tinged metalcore — corpse paint, synths, and choruses built for an arena singalong, Halloween as a year-round genre.
From Scranton, PA · Sounds like Ice Nine Kills, Falling In Reverse, Marilyn Manson
Deathcore's early standard-bearers — blast beats into breakdowns, delivered at maximum volume, with Mitch Lucker's legacy carried respectfully forward.
From Riverside, CA · Sounds like Whitechapel, Chelsea Grin, Carnifex
Aaron Gillespie stepping out from behind the kit for scrappier, southern-tinged rock songs with the grit left in — Underoath's drummer, unplugged from the chaos.
From Clearwater, FL · Sounds like Underoath, Anberlin, Manchester Orchestra
Hardcore veterans making sunny, ramshackle power-pop with the energy of a band that has nothing to prove — Turnstile and Trapped Under Ice pedigree, zero tough-guy posture.
From Baltimore, MD · Sounds like Turnstile, Trapped Under Ice, Superheaven, Power Trip
Fifth-wave emo at its most frantic — tapped riffs and throat-shredding payoffs in equal measure, from a band that treats catharsis as a competitive sport.
From Oklahoma City, OK · Sounds like Arm's Length, Just Friends, Dogleg, Hot Mulligan
Philly emo with a comedian's timing — sprawling, funny songs that turn genuinely bleak without warning, from a band whose whole name is an iCarly bit played straight.
From Philadelphia, PA · Sounds like Origami Angel, Ben Quad, Modern Baseball
A Day To Remember— The pop-punk/metalcore hybrid blueprint — mosh-call breakdowns and sugar-rush hooks in equal measure, delivered with beach balls, confetti cannons, and total arena confidence.
Bring Me The Horizon— Playing debut Count Your Blessings front to back for its 20th — a return to the feral deathcore they spent the next two decades outgrowing.
Up-and-comers to catch early
Koyo— Long Island melodic hardcore with hooks that land the first time you hear them.
Origami Angel— Two people making more noise, and more melody, than most bands manage with five.
Ben Quad— Fifth-wave emo at a full sprint — the most cathartic half hour of Saturday.
Pain of Truth— Current-wave heavy hardcore built for exactly this kind of room, or courtyard.
Thrown— Swedish hardcore that turns a panic attack into a setlist, and never lets the tension off.
No Cure— Birmingham's own — the hometown pit, and affectionately the ugliest one of the weekend.
Other acts worth planning around
Underoath— Define the Great Line in full, on a bill stacked with bands that record shaped.
Poison the Well— The arty, awkward end of early metalcore — twenty-five years on, still nothing sounds like it.
Eighteen Visions— Fashioncore's originators: hair, hooks, and a swagger nobody else got away with.
Norma Jean— Two decades of refusing to resolve a riff cleanly, and no sign of starting now.
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza— A joke of a band name attached to some of the most punishing mathcore ever committed to tape.
Angel Du$t— Hardcore veterans playing sunny power-pop — the closest thing to a breather all weekend.
Hatebreed— Thirty years on and still the most reliable way to start a pit ever devised.
Motionless In White— Corpse paint and arena-sized choruses; the most theatrical thing on Sunday's bill.
