Works the seam between hip-hop, funk and electronica — sample-heavy and guitar-inflected, with a live-band instinct.

Gramatik is Denis Jašarević, a producer originally from Portorož, Slovenia, who later based himself in the United States. He built an audience through instrumental hip-hop and what became known as electro-soul: boom-bap drum programming, chopped funk and soul samples, blues and rock guitar lines, and glitch-hop textures layered over the top.

He released much of his catalogue for free or on a name-your-price basis, and later founded the Lowtemp label. He has also worked as one half of the duo Exmag-adjacent projects and collaborated widely; his live shows generally lean on live instrumentation alongside the production.
