Scottish DJ whose doof-inflected hard house has become one of the UK's biggest club draws — Dundee dental nurse turned rave phenomenon.

Hannah Laing was born on 12 August 1994 and grew up in the Balgay area of Dundee, attending Ancrum Road Primary School and then Harris Academy. She became interested in rave music through her parents, and played her first DJ set at eighteen in a venue in Arbroath.

She worked as a dental nurse for ten years, fitting the job around DJ work that included a residency in San Antonio, before leaving the profession for music full time in 2022. She has described the move from full-time work and weekend touring to music alone as both terrifying and freeing.

Her sets and productions lean on hard house, trance and the fast, kick-driven style associated with Scottish and Australian rave scenes, built from big riffs, sped-up vocal hooks and relentless four-to-the-floor momentum. She runs her own label, Doof, named after the doof-doof sound of the beat she plays.

In 2019 she remixed Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Murder on the Dancefloor, a version that spread through DJ sets worldwide. Her 2023 single Good Love, made with RoRo, spent 26 weeks on the UK Singles Chart, peaked at number seven and was certified platinum. She was also featured on a Tidy Trax compilation marking 25 years since the death of hard house pioneer Tony De Vit, and picked up a DJ Mag Best of Britain nomination the same year.

She has released two extended plays under the Doof name, Into the Doof and Into the Bounce, alongside a residency at Hï Ibiza. In November 2025 she released Have You Ever Loved (Ellie), a tribute single.
