Armin van Buuren is a Dutch DJ and producer, born in Leiden, who became one of the defining figures of trance from the late 1990s onward. His radio show A State of Trance, launched in 2001, grew into a weekly institution with a global listenership and a touring event series attached to it, and he co-founded the Armada Music label. Alongside instrumental club records he has worked extensively with vocalists, producing tracks such as "This Is What It Feels Like" that pushed his sound toward pop radio. He has been voted number one in DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs poll five times. His sets typically move between uplifting and progressive trance, often stretching to marathon lengths.
