Moscoman is Chen Moscovici, a producer and DJ originally from Tel Aviv and long based in Berlin. He founded the Disco Halal label, which has become a focal point for producers working between Mediterranean and Middle Eastern musical traditions and European club music.
His own productions tend towards mid-tempo, hypnotic dance tracks built on live-sounding percussion, dubby effects and modal melodic lines, with a debt to cosmic disco, EBM and Balearic records as much as to house. Alongside original material he has released a considerable amount of remix work, and his DJ sets follow similar territory — slow to build, with an emphasis on groove and atmosphere rather than peak-time impact.
