Damian Lazarus is a British DJ, producer and label head who came up through the London dance scene before founding Crosstown Rebels, the imprint that has released much of his own work alongside records from across the underground house and tech-house world. He also curates Day Zero, a sunrise-to-sunrise event first staged in Mexico's Yucatán jungle and since held in other remote locations.
His DJ sets favour slow-building, percussive house with psychedelic and cosmic-disco textures, often stretched over long sets to suit sunrise or all-night settings. He has also recorded with a live band under the name Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons.
His debut solo album, Smoke the Monster Out, appeared in May 2009, following roughly two years spent writing and refining its material, an early marker of the studio side of his career alongside his DJ work and label duties at Crosstown Rebels.
