The Huston-Tillotson University Jazz Collective is the jazz ensemble of Huston-Tillotson University, a historically Black university in East Austin, Texas, formed by the 1952 merger of Samuel Huston College and Tillotson College and the oldest institution of higher education in the city. The group is made up of students working in the school's music program, performing in an ensemble format that draws on standards, big-band arrangements and the blues and gospel traditions that underpin the idiom.
