EDM-pop juggernauts — the closers everyone knows every word to, 'Closer' included, obviously, a hits run that never left the radio.
The Chainsmokers are the New York duo of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, working together since 2012. They began as DJs and remixers before breaking through with the novelty single "#Selfie," then shifted toward a more song-based approach built on soft electro-house drops, sung hooks and a steady stream of guest vocalists.
That run produced "Roses," "Don't Let Me Down" and "Closer," the last of these a duet between Taggart and Halsey that became one of the most played singles of its era. Taggart increasingly handled lead vocals himself, pushing the project further from club dance music toward radio pop. Live, the pair combine DJ sets with live vocals and heavy production.
