The Killers' frontman stepping out solo — heartland-leaning synth-rock from one of the great arena voices of his generation.

Flowers was born Brandon Richard Flowers on 21 June 1981 in Henderson, Nevada, the youngest of six children. His family moved to Payson and then Nephi, Utah, before he returned to Las Vegas at sixteen to live with an aunt, graduating from Chaparral High School in 1999.

He formed the Killers with Dave Keuning in 2001 after responding to Keuning's ad in the Las Vegas Weekly; bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. completed the line-up. Flowers sings, plays keyboards and writes most of the group's lyrics, including "All These Things That I've Done."

The Killers' debut, Hot Fuss (2004), sold seven million copies, and each of their seven studio albums since, through Pressure Machine (2021), has topped the UK Albums Chart. Flowers wrote "A Dustland Fairytale" as a tribute to his parents' lifelong marriage.

His solo work steps away from the band's arena rock toward synth-driven pop and songs shaped by the American West. He has released three solo albums, Flamingo (2010), The Desired Effect (2015) and Thrasher (2026), the first two also topping the UK chart.

Flowers grew up partly in Nephi, Utah, and his Mormon upbringing and Nevada surroundings turn up repeatedly in his writing. Live, he works as a frontman in the traditional sense, playing to the back of the room.
