Brandon Flowers is the singer, keyboard player and principal lyricist of The Killers, the Las Vegas band he co-founded in the early 2000s. His solo work steps slightly away from that group's arena rock toward synth-driven pop and songs shaped by the American West, though the widescreen choruses and declarative vocal style carry over. Flowers grew up partly in the small town of Nephi, Utah, and his Mormon upbringing and Nevada surroundings turn up repeatedly in his writing. Live, he works as a frontman in the traditional sense, playing to the back of the room.
