Cannons are a Los Angeles trio of vocalist Michelle Joy, guitarist Ryan Clapham and keyboardist Paul Davis. Their music combines breathy, restrained singing with analogue-leaning synthesizers, clean guitar and steady disco and new-wave rhythms, a sound often filed under darkwave or synth-pop despite its warmth. The band worked independently for several years before "Fire for You" found a large audience after being used in television, which led to a major-label deal and international touring. Their albums have kept to the same unhurried, atmospheric formula.
