Allison de Groot and Tatiana Hargreaves are a banjo-and-fiddle duo working in old-time American string band music. De Groot, a clawhammer banjo player originally from Winnipeg, has also played in string band and bluegrass contexts; Hargreaves is a fiddler who has performed and recorded with a range of traditional players and won fiddle contests as a teenager. Their duo repertoire draws on Appalachian and Southern fiddle tunes and older ballads, often sourced from field recordings and archival players, arranged for two instruments with close attention to bowing, tuning and rhythmic drive.
