Brooklyn-born multi-instrumentalist and Carolina Chocolate Drops alum who follows the African American thread running through America's traditional music forms — banjo, bones, and guitar in service of the story.

Hubby Jenkins is a multi-instrumentalist from Brooklyn who came to traditional American music through busking, learning guitar, banjo, mandolin and bones as he worked. He spent years as a member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and has also performed with Rhiannon Giddens, work that centers the African American origins of string band music, country blues and early folk forms. As a solo performer he plays and sings that repertoire alongside his own material, usually with commentary that places the songs in their historical context.
