This Is Lorelei is the solo project of Nate Amos, a Brooklyn-based musician also known as half of the experimental rock duo Water From Your Eyes. He had released a large quantity of home-recorded material under the name before Box for Buddy, Box for Star drew wider attention, trading the abrasive edges of his other work for clear melodies and conventional song structures.
The songs pull from country, 1970s soft rock and lo-fi pop, often processed with pitch-shifted vocals and drum machines, and deal in a wry, self-deprecating kind of confessional writing. Amos produces the records himself.
