Jejune formed in Boston in the mid-1990s and became one of the more quietly influential bands of emo's second wave, later relocating to San Diego. Their sound paired melodic, chiming guitar work with the interplay of male and female vocals, a combination that set them apart from the shoutier end of the scene and left a mark on the indie-leaning bands that followed. The group released a string of albums and split around the turn of the 2000s, after which their records circulated largely through word of mouth among listeners who came to the genre late. Reunion activity in later years has brought the catalogue back to the stage.
