Wry Toronto jangle — Pavement's grandkids with better jokes, deadpan verses stuffed with sly detail, slacker charm with a novelist's eye.

Kiwi jr. is a Toronto indie rock band fronted by singer and lyricist Jeremy Gaudet, with bassist Mike Walker, drummer Brohan Moore and guitarist Brian Murphy. The group plays fast, jangling guitar pop with a loose, unfussy feel, drawing on the tradition of Pavement and other 1990s American college rock as much as on Canadian indie.

The songs are mostly built on chiming guitars and a steady, propulsive rhythm section, with Gaudet's flat, half-spoken delivery carrying lyrics packed with proper nouns, offhand jokes and small narrative details that build into something like short stories.

Kiwi jr.'s debut album, Football Money, came out on the Canadian label Mint Records. The band then signed to Sub Pop, releasing records there between 2021 and 2026, before moving to K Records for their fourth album, Blowin' Up, released that year. Across all four records, the band has kept its albums short and quick-moving rather than sprawling statements.
