Carl Cox is a British DJ and producer, born in Oldham in 1962 to Barbadian parents and raised in Surrey. He began playing soul, funk and hip-hop at local parties before becoming one of the defining figures of the British acid house and rave era in the late 1980s, and he was among the first DJs widely associated with mixing on three turntables at once.

His sets lean towards house and techno, usually played at high energy and with a visible enthusiasm that has become part of his reputation. He ran a long-standing Tuesday-night residency at Space in Ibiza, and he oversees the Intec label. He has lived in Australia for many years while continuing to tour internationally.
