Charley Crockett is a Texas-born singer and songwriter who spent years busking in New Orleans, New York and elsewhere before recording. His music pulls together honky-tonk, western swing, soul and Gulf Coast blues, and he has kept up an unusually fast release schedule, issuing both original albums and collections of covers, including a record of James Hand songs. He underwent open-heart surgery in 2019 and returned to touring afterwards. His live shows are built around a full band and a repertoire that ranges widely across mid-century American styles.
