Travis Tritt grew up in Marietta, Georgia, and emerged at the start of the 1990s as part of the wave of country singers who broke through around 1989. Where many of his peers leaned toward pop or honky-tonk, Tritt brought a Southern rock influence, with electric guitars and a gravelly, blues-inflected voice. His early Warner Bros. records produced "Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)" and "Anymore," and he later had a hit with "It's a Great Day to Be Alive."
He recorded and toured extensively with Marty Stuart, including the duet "The Whiskey Ain't Workin'," and his version of "T-R-O-U-B-L-E," a song first cut by Elvis Presley, remains one of his best-known performances.
