Texas firebrand with the deepest song catalog of her generation — kerosene anthems and quiet gut-punches in equal measure.

Miranda Lambert was born in Longview, Texas, and raised in nearby Lindale. She released a self-titled debut album independently in 2001, then finished third on the television talent show Nashville Star in 2003, which led to a deal with Epic Records.

Kerosene, her first major-label record, went platinum in 2005 and produced four top-40 country singles. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend followed in 2007, and its single "Gunpowder & Lead" became her first top-ten hit. Both records leaned on Texas country and rockabilly, mixing combative story-songs with quieter, more reflective material.

Revolution, released in 2009, gave her two number-one songs in "The House That Built Me" and "Heart Like Mine." Four the Record followed in 2011, and Platinum, in 2014, won the Grammy for Best Country Album. The Weight of These Wings, from 2016, was later certified platinum.

Wildcard, in 2019, brought her a second Grammy for Best Country Album, and in 2021 she stripped things back for The Marfa Tapes, an acoustic collaboration with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram. Palomino followed in 2022, the year Time named her among its 100 most influential people.

Lambert has written or co-written much of her catalogue and holds more Academy of Country Music Awards than any other artist. Alongside her solo records she is a member of the Pistol Annies, formed in 2011 with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley.
