Her early albums Kerosene and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend established a style rooted in Texas country and rockabilly, with a writing voice that moved between combative story-songs and quieter, more reflective material.
She has written or co-written much of her catalogue and has released a long run of albums, including The Weight of These Wings. Alongside her solo work she is a member of the Pistol Annies with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley.
