Dustin Lynch
Party-ready country radio staple — a decade of neon-lit number ones.
Dustin Lynch was born May 14, 1985, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, graduating from Tullahoma High School in 2003 before earning a biology degree from Lipscomb University in Nashville in 2007, where he also played on the golf team. He picked up guitar as a child, set it aside, then returned to it at fifteen; at sixteen he played an open mic at the Bluebird Café and decided to start a band rather than pursue medicine.
He signed first with Valory Music Group before moving to Broken Bow Records in late 2011. His debut single, "Cowboys and Angels," co-written with Josh Leo and Tim Nichols, came out in January 2012, and his self-titled debut album reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart that August, also yielding the hits "She Cranks My Tractor" and "Wild in Your Smile."
He has since built a run of country radio hits including "Where It's At", "Small Town Boy" and "Good Girl", moving through albums such as Current Mood, Tullahoma, Blue in the Sky and Killed the Cowboy. His records sit in mainstream contemporary country, mixing traditional imagery with pop and rock production.
"Where It's At" gave him his first Country Airplay number one in 2014, followed by further chart-toppers "Hell of a Night" and "Mind Reader." "Seein' Red" and "Small Town Boy" also reached number one, though "I'd Be Jealous Too" stalled at 34, his lowest-charting single. Across six albums and an EP he has released seventeen singles, nine of which reached number one on Country Airplay.
He performed "Small Town Boy" at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2017 and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry the following year. Beyond his own catalogue, he has co-written songs for other artists, including Dallas Smith's "Somebody Somewhere," James Wesley's "Thank a Farmer" and Brett Kissel's "Guitars and Gasoline."
