Gavin Adcock grew up on his family's cattle farm in Watkinsville, Georgia, and attended Oconee County High School, where he earned All-Region honors twice as a defensive end and offensive guard. He kept playing football at Georgia Southern University from 2019 to 2022, lining up as a nose tackle while majoring in management.

A knee injury during spring practice in 2021 pushed him toward music full time. He released his first single, "Ain't No Cure," while recovering, then signed with Warner Music Nashville under Red Light Management. His song "A Cigarette" became a breakout hit with more than 150 million streams, and his debut album, Actin' Up Again, followed in 2024.

His songs tend toward drinking, small-town restlessness and heartbreak, delivered in a hoarse, forceful voice over full-band arrangements that sit closer to Southern rock than to Nashville's polished mainstream. He built his early audience through streaming and steady touring rather than radio play.

Adcock has drawn attention for off-stage incidents as well, including a 2023 arrest for driving with a suspended license and a 2025 arrest in Wilson County, Tennessee, for reckless driving and an open container of alcohol. In June 2025 he criticized Beyoncé's country album Cowboy Carter from the stage, arguing pop stars should not top the country charts, a remark that drew wide debate.
