Lonestar formed in Nashville in 1992, built around musicians who had relocated from Texas, and became one of the more commercially successful country groups of the following decade. Their sound sat on the pop side of contemporary country, combining arena-scaled ballads with uptempo country-rock, and they placed a long run of singles at country radio through the mid- and late 1990s. The 1999 ballad "Amazed" is their best-known song, crossing from country to the pop charts. The band has continued to record and tour, with changes to the lineup over the years.
