Amsterdam's minimal-house standard-bearer — deep, warm, relentless grooves that made him one of Europe's most booked underground names.
Chris Stassy, born Niels Christiaan Steenbergen, grew up in Leiden, a municipality in South Holland close to both Amsterdam and Rotterdam, before establishing himself as a DJ and producer in Amsterdam's club scene. He was billed as Chris Stussy until August 2026, when he adopted his current stage name.
His music favours the stripped-back house sound that emerged from Amsterdam's clubs in the late 2010s: rolling basslines, dubby chords and long, patient arrangements built for extended sets rather than obvious peaks. Tracks such as "Pumpin'," "Won't Stop (Don't)," "Breather," "Wide Awake" and "Midtown Playground" carry that sound, and his single "Desire" has been streamed more than 50 million times.
He runs his own label, Up the Stuss, founded in 2020, alongside releases for Fuse London, Kaoz Theory, PIV and Rutilance Recordings. He has also worked in duo projects, as Stussko with Kolter and as Across Boundaries with Locklead, and remains a frequent collaborator with other producers working in the same minimal, groove-led style.
His profile grew sharply in 2023, when the single "All Night Long" and the following Midtown Playground EP pushed his streaming numbers past two million monthly listeners. He has played clubs including DC10 and Amnesia in Ibiza and Club Space, delivered a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in October 2024, and played his first Boiler Room set, in Edinburgh, in May 2024.
In 2024 he launched a docu-series, Chris Stussy: Uncut, following two years of shows and studio work, and the following year started his own event series, USS, in London, where he enforces a no-phones policy to keep the focus on the DJ and sound system. His debut album, Lost, Found & Forgotten, was announced in February 2026 and released two months later, forming the basis of a four-part residency on BBC Radio 1.
