Hiroko Yamamura is a DJ and producer based in Chicago, where she has been part of the city's techno community for many years rather than emerging from it recently. Her sets favour the harder, more hypnotic end of techno — driving, percussive and industrial-tinged, built for extended momentum rather than melodic release. Alongside DJing she produces her own material and has been involved in the local scene as an organiser and advocate, and she works in a city whose house and techno history informs the music without dictating it.
