Leicester's swaggering electro-rock survivors — two decades of festival-sized choruses built for exactly this, with Serge Pizzorno running the show out front.
The band started out under the name Saracuse before settling on Kasabian, taken from Linda Kasabian, a member of the Charles Manson family who later testified against him. The founding lineup, including guitarist Chris Karloff alongside Meighan, Pizzorno and Edwards, came together around Countesthorpe and Blaby, with Ian Matthews joining on drums in 2004.
Karloff left in 2006 to form his own band, Black Onassis. Jay Mehler joined that year as touring lead guitarist before departing in 2013 to join Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye, and his replacement, Tim Carter, became a full member of Kasabian in 2021.
Beyond the studio albums the existing profile names, Kasabian have gone on to release Velociraptor!, 48:13, For Crying Out Loud, The Alchemist's Euphoria, Happenings and Act III, work often compared to the Stone Roses and Primal Scream carried with Oasis-style swagger.
Their run of albums and shows has brought a Brit Award for Best British Group in 2010, Q Awards for Best Act in the World Today in 2010 and 2014, a Best Live Act win at the 2014 Q Awards, and NME Best Live Act honours in 2007 and 2018, alongside a headline turn at Glastonbury in 2014.
