Krept & Konan

South London rap duo out of Gipsy Hill, trading verses in a conversational back-and-forth that carried 'Freak of the Week' onto daytime radio.

Krept & Konan are Casyo Johnson and Karl Wilson, who grew up around Gipsy Hill and started putting out music together in the early 2010s. Their 2013 mixtape Young Kingz reached the UK album chart with no label behind it, which drew attention to how far a British rap release could get on its own. The Long Way Home came in 2015, followed by the paired projects 7 Days and 7 Nights in 2017 and Revenge Is Sweet in 2019.

Away from records, the two opened Crepes & Cones in Croydon, a dessert and chicken shop that has since expanded. Their verses tend to alternate in short exchanges rather than long solo runs, with Konan's lower delivery set against Krept's quicker phrasing.
