Doechii is the stage name of Jaylah Hickmon, a rapper and singer from Tampa, Florida. She built an early audience online with tracks including "Yucky Blucky Fruitcake" and "Crazy" before signing to Top Dawg Entertainment, becoming the label's first woman rapper. Her music moves between hard-edged rap, house-tempo dance production and melodic R&B, often within the same song, and her verses are known for abrupt shifts in cadence and voice.

The 2024 mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal drew wide critical attention and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, making her the third woman to take that category. She is also known as an unusually physical live performer, with choreography built into the sets.
