Tampa gruff-punk vets — bar-band heart and worn-in singalongs, longtime Fest family with the crowd to prove it.

The Tim Version are a punk band from Tampa, Florida, working in the gruff, melodic vein associated with the Gainesville-centred Southern punk scene. Their songs pair hoarse, conversational vocals with straightforward mid-tempo rock arrangements, and the lyrics tend toward regional detail, bar-level observation and a certain amount of self-deprecation.

The band has released records through independent punk labels over a long run of activity, and their reputation rests more on consistency and word-of-mouth within that scene than on wider exposure. They came together in 1999 and have kept the same four members ever since.

There has never been a manager or publicist involved, just a DIY approach to putting out a few albums, some extra songs, and touring the United States repeatedly. That same approach carried them to Japan more than once and through an unconventional run of UK dates.

The four members have stayed close friends throughout, even as they have settled in different time zones. Lately they have been writing new material, hoping to record and release it before too long, keeping the band's slow, steady pace intact.
