Montreal's swaggering party-punk force — riff-first, cowbell-friendly, and built to blow the roof off. One of the weekend's most kinetic sets.

NOBRO formed in Montreal in 2014, launched by bassist and vocalist Kathryn McCaughey alongside guitarist Marianna Florczyk and drummer Martha Rodriguez. The lineup shifted over the following decade; guitarist Karolane Carbonneau joined in 2018 and remains alongside McCaughey as the band's constant pairing.

The songs are loud, unfussy rock delivered with a party band's sense of momentum, built on big riffs, gang vocals and percussion, cowbell included, rather than studio polish. McCaughey fronts the group from behind the bass, setting the pace for arrangements that favor immediacy over refinement.

The band built its catalogue through a run of EPs, including Stoke Level: High! in 2016 and Live Your Truth Shred Some Gnar in 2022, both before signing to Dine Alone Records and Big Scary Monsters in 2020. The full-length Set Your Pussy Free followed in 2023, produced by Dave Schiffman.

The record was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize in 2024 and won the Juno for Rock Album of the Year in 2025. NOBRO has toured with PUP, Alexisonfire, Billy Talent, Fidlar and Flogging Molly, and Iggy Pop has played the band's music on his BBC Radio 6 show. Their reputation still rests largely on live performance, where the songs run short, fast and physical.
