Morgan Nagler is a Los Angeles songwriter who led the band Whispertown, which for a stretch went by the Whispertown 2000. She sings in a thin, talky voice, close to the microphone, over arrangements that lean on acoustic guitar and a loose rhythm section rather than polish. The band sat in the same Los Angeles circle as Jenny Lewis and Rilo Kiley in the late 2000s, and Nagler's writing carries that scene's habit of pairing plain, half-spoken lines with a country-tinged chord shape.
