OPIUO

1 upcoming festival

Squelchy, cartoonishly funky glitch-hop played with a genuine bass player's sense of groove — New Zealand funk engineering at festival scale.

OPIUO is the project of New Zealand-born producer Oscar Davey-Wraight, who works in glitch-hop and funk-derived electronic music. His tracks combine heavily processed synth basslines with slap-bass phrasing, brass stabs and swung, hip-hop-leaning drum programming, giving the material a bright, cartoonish quality alongside its low-end weight.

He has performed both as a solo producer and with a live band, and has spent much of his career based in Australia. His work is frequently grouped with the mid-tempo and neurohop end of bass music, though the funk instrumentation remains the most distinctive element.
