The String Cheese Incident
Three nights as Hulaween's resident hosts — bluegrass roots stretched through funk, calypso, and full-blown electronica, costumes strongly encouraged.
The String Cheese Incident formed in Colorado in the early 1990s, coming out of the mountain-town ski circuit before building a national following on the jam-band scene. The lineup centres on mandolin, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and percussion, and the group's early material leaned on bluegrass and acoustic string-band playing.
Over time they widened considerably, folding in funk, Latin and Caribbean rhythms, rock and electronic production, with long improvised passages linking songs. The band is known for extended multi-night runs, elaborate stage production, and an audience that treats the shows as participatory events. They have also been active in running their own ticketing and management operations.
