Big Gigantic
Saxophone and live drums over electronic production — the Colorado duo that made horns a festival-stage instrument again, equal parts jam band and drop machine.
Big Gigantic are a duo from Boulder, Colorado, formed in 2007 by saxophonist and producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken. Lalli has a jazz background, and the project pairs live saxophone and drums with electronic production drawing on hip-hop, funk and dance music. Their sets emphasise improvisation and interplay over the tracks, which has made them a regular presence on both electronic and jam-oriented bills. The pair have released their music independently, often as free downloads, and are also known for staging their own annual Rowdytown events at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
