The jam scene's current standard-bearers — song-first, patient, and capable of going anywhere after the second chorus, with a fanbase growing by the tour.

Goose formed in Connecticut around 2014 and has become one of the most widely followed bands of the current improvisational rock scene. The group is fronted by guitarist and singer Rick Mitarotonda, with Peter Anspach on keys and guitar, and builds its shows around long, evolving sets that vary from night to night.

Their material starts from concise, melodic songwriting with a folk and indie-rock feel, then opens out into extended jams that draw on funk, electronic textures and gradually building group improvisation. The band records studio albums but is best known through live recordings and a touring circuit that has taken it from clubs to arenas and amphitheatres.
