Chattanooga banjo player and songwriter with a band that leans as much on original writing as on the traditional canon.

Randy Steele plays clawhammer and three-finger banjo and writes most of what his band performs. He is based in Chattanooga, where he has been part of the local acoustic scene for years, and his songs tend toward narrative writing set in the Tennessee River valley and the mountains around it. High Cold Wind performs them alongside traditional material, with the arrangements built around Steele's banjo and voice.
