Roger Clyne and drummer P.H. Naffah started the Peacemakers in Tempe, Arizona in 1998 after the Refreshments broke up, keeping the border-rock guitars and Clyne's plainspoken lyrics about drinking, driving and Mexico. The band has released its records independently on its own label.
Their best-known ritual is Circus Mexicus, a series of shows in Puerto Peñasco on the Sea of Cortez that draws fans across the border for the weekend. Sets mix Peacemakers material with Refreshments songs, including "Banditos" and the King of the Hill theme, which Clyne wrote and recorded with that band.
