Sara Evans grew up on a farm near New Franklin, Missouri, singing in a family band from childhood before moving to Nashville to pursue songwriting and a recording contract. The follow-up records softened that approach, pairing her clear, powerful voice with more contemporary Nashville production, and she became a consistent presence on country radio through the 2000s.
