Self Esteem

1 festival played

Rebecca Lucy Taylor's solo turn after Slow Club — big-chorus, choir-backed alt-pop about womanhood, staged with deliberately theatrical choreography.

Self Esteem is the solo project of Rebecca Lucy Taylor, an English singer and songwriter from Rotherham who previously worked as one half of the duo Slow Club. The material is built around large, layered vocal arrangements, group harmonies and percussion-heavy production, with lyrics that deal frankly with womanhood, self-worth, relationships and the expectations placed on women.

Live, Taylor performs with a group of backing vocalists and uses tightly rehearsed, deliberately stylised choreography, drawing on pop staging while keeping the songs' conversational, often blunt tone intact. Her work has been widely covered in the British press and she has also worked in theatre.
