August Burns Red formed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the early 2000s and became one of American metalcore's more durable bands. Their music is defined by technical, frequently shifting riff work, odd-metre passages and the drumming of Matt Greiner, whose busy, jazz-influenced playing is a recognisable part of the group's identity.
The band emerged from the Christian hardcore scene and signed to Solid State Records, releasing a long run of albums over two decades.
