Static-X

2 festivals played

Los Angeles industrial-metal machine behind the 'evil disco' churn of Wayne Static's era, carrying the catalogue forward with the surviving lineup and a masked frontman.

Static-X formed in Los Angeles in 1994 and built its sound on mechanical, down-tuned guitar riffs, programmed and electronic textures, and the barked vocals of frontman Wayne Static, who described the results as "evil disco." The band emerged alongside the nu-metal wave of the late 1990s but leaned more heavily on industrial rhythms than most of its contemporaries.

Wayne Static died in 2014. The surviving members later resumed activity, performing with a masked singer while continuing to work through the band's back catalogue and issue new material drawn in part from archived recordings.
