Richmond, Virginia's groove-metal institution, fronted by Randy Blythe's bark — riffs built for the kind of pit that clears a field.

Lamb of God formed in Richmond, Virginia, originally as Burn the Priest, taking the current name at the end of the 1990s. The line-up has long centred on vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, and bassist John Campbell, with Chris Adler on drums for most of the band's history before Art Cruz took over.

Their sound combines thrash speed with mid-tempo groove riffing and Blythe's shouted, largely unmelodic vocals, and albums including Ashes of the Wake and Sacrament made them one of the most prominent American metal bands of the 2000s. In 2012 Blythe was arrested in Prague and charged over a fan's death at an earlier show; he was acquitted the following year and later wrote about the experience.
