Johnny Franck's absurdist country-core project gone legitimately huge — saxophones, breakdowns, and jokes played tight enough to work as straight-up bangers.

Bilmuri is the project of Johnny Franck, an American musician who previously played guitar in the metalcore band Attack Attack!. Working largely on his own, he built Bilmuri through a steady run of self-released material that mixed post-hardcore breakdowns with saxophone, horns, autotuned vocals and pop and country hooks.

The music is deliberately hard to place, and the presentation carries a strong streak of comedy — song titles, artwork and lyrics that undercut the sincerity of the arrangements. Later releases pushed further toward country and arena-rock songwriting, and the project has grown from an internet-driven curiosity into a substantial touring act.
