Eight-piece London chamber-rock swells — patient, communal, and overwhelming, songs that gather like weather until the whole room is inside them.

caroline are an eight-piece band based in London who developed their music collectively through improvisation and group rehearsal rather than conventional songwriting. Their sound draws on slowcore, post-rock, Appalachian and folk fiddle traditions, and minimalist composition, with strings and horns sitting alongside guitars and voices.

Their self-titled debut album was released by Rough Trade and made use of live, room-based recording, letting pieces build slowly from near-silence to dense, layered climaxes. Performances follow the same logic, with the members trading instruments and singing in loose unison.
