A songwriter's songwriter who writes hits for everyone else, then plays his own with a full band and no cynicism.

Jon Bellion, born in 1990, grew up on Long Island in Lake Grove, in an Italian-American family with roots in Naples. He weighed a basketball career against music through high school before committing to music in his junior year, then enrolled in the music program at Five Towns College, leaving after a year to write songs professionally under mentor Kara DioGuardi.

He built an audience with self-released mixtapes starting with Scattered Thoughts Vol. 1 in 2011, distributed through Facebook, followed by Translations Through Speakers, The Separation and The Definition, the last including the single "Luxury." He signed with Visionary Music Group in 2012 and headlined his first tour, the Beautiful Mind Tour, in 2014.

As a writer he contributed the hook to Eminem's "The Monster," which won a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and co-wrote and produced Jason Derulo's "Trumpets." He has since become a sought-after producer and co-writer, working on records for Justin Bieber, the Jonas Brothers, Halsey, Camila Cabello, Selena Gomez and BTS members Jung Kook and Jimin, among others.

His breakthrough single, "All Time Low," reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 ahead of his debut album, The Human Condition, which peaked at number five in 2016. A second album, Glory Sound Prep, followed in 2018. His music blends pop melody with hip-hop rhythm and dense, layered production, much of it handled himself.

He performs with a full band, and his songs tend toward earnest, direct subject matter rather than irony. Early in his career he opened for Twenty One Pilots' Emotional Roadshow World Tour.
