This Never Happened boss — phone-free deep-house journeys that reward patience, melodic sets built as arcs rather than drops.

Lane 8 is the project of Daniel Goldstein, an American producer and DJ now based in Denver, Colorado. The moniker dates back to childhood, when he and a sibling made garage rock together, and his early production work leaned on hip-hop beats shaped by Pete Rock and DJ Premier. He found his current sound around 2012, drawing enough attention from Anjunadeep to sign with the label in 2013.

The music is melodic deep house, generally mid-tempo, with warm pads, filtered vocal parts and long build-ups rather than abrupt peaks. Goldstein has described the style himself as "dreamy back rub house," a phrase that captures the unhurried, cushioned feel of his arrangements.

His catalogue includes the albums Rise, Little By Little and Brightest Lights. Rise, released in 2015, brought him wider recognition: Pete Tong named him a "Future Star" and Dancing Astronaut listed him among its artists to watch that year.

Goldstein runs the label This Never Happened, founded in 2016 and named after his Little by Little tour. It signs new talent, releases artist remixes and puts out the compilation series Root to Branch. The This Never Happened shows are known for their no-phones policy, asking audiences to keep cameras away for the duration. He also issues seasonal mixtapes collecting new and unreleased tracks.
