Belgian acid-house provocateurs — filthy, funny, and built entirely for a room past midnight, '90s industrial-dance sleaze still fully operational.

Lords of Acid formed in Belgium in 1988 around producer Praga Khan, emerging from the same new beat and acid house scene that ran through Belgian clubs at the end of the 1980s. The project's early singles paired hard, repetitive acid basslines with explicit, deadpan lyrics, and later records leaned further into industrial and electro-industrial textures, picking up an audience in the United States through the 1990s. The group has used a rotating cast of vocalists over the years, with Praga Khan as the constant. Their live shows are theatrical and deliberately provocative.
